How can I track inventory Par Levels in Beacon?

If you need to track your inventory levels and manage out of stocks, there are a few different ways to manage par levels in Beacon.

Catalog Par Levels

You can set par levels at the catalog level to tell you how much of a particular inventory item you have in your value chain. This will calculate how many devices exist throughout your organization in any custody and benchmark against a par level that you set. Read more about using Catalog Par Levels here.

Facility Par Levels

You can also set par levels at the facility level by utilizing custom locations. This method relies on designating a custom location as pertaining to that Facility's par levels. Any inventory assigned that location will count towards its par levels. So it becomes very critical that locations are updated diligently to ensure this inventory data stays accurate. Organization Only Par Levels

We've had requests to manage par levels for inventory in the organization's custody only. While this feature is not yet available, you can utilize Facility Par Levels in a way to manage this data.

To set this up:

1. Create a facility named for your Organization.

2. Create a corresponding Location for your Organization

3. Navigate to the Facility Detail page in the Directory

4. Scroll down to the Par Levels section and begin setting up your par levels item by item using the Location you created for your organization. Read more here.   5. You'll need to assign locations whenever inventory comes into the Organization's custody to keep this current, so we recommend making location changes on every transfer to build this into your operational processes.
