What do I do if I have old facility stock cases to enter, but the inventory has since expired?

If you have old cases that haven't been entered, but the facility stock inventory was allowed to expire in the system in the meantime, you have a complex problem.

The inventory was allowed to expire so it can't be used, but the inventory was already sold so it can't be modified. Further, Stocking Orders cannot be reopened, so there is no way to change this inventory.

We recommend using Event Type: Other, because it will allow you to associate the faility, physician, and procedure data while still removing the inventory regardless of its expired status. You can create an event with event type OTHER, which will allow you to add expired facility stock and treat it like a case.

If you are not trying to record devices used in a case, and would prefer to just remove the inventory you may use Event Type: Stock Adjustment.

Note: Since these events are not using Event type: "Case", they will not show on the case report. Be sure to make reference to these exception events in your records so they can be found if needed. Any searches for events or cases will need to include the "other" event type to reflect these.
