What do I do If I'm partially fulfilling an inventory request?

When an inventory request is fulfilled the most common next step is to fulfill the request with an inventory transfer back to the requestor, which renders it complete.

However, what do you do when a request is not going to be fulfilled? Or what do you do when a request has been partially fulfilled and the remainder will never be fulfilled?

Well, you have a couple of options:

What to do when a partially fulfilled request will not be fulfilled to completion ever:

If you have partially fulfilled a request, but there is no possibility that the request will be fulfilled further you may complete the request without adding additional inventory.

  1. Navigate to the Movements → Requests page

  2. Locate the request in question and click on it to open its detail page

  3. Inspect the details of the request to verify before proceeding

  4. Mark the items in the fulfillment section that will not be fulfilled.
  5. You may then download a packing slip listing which items will not be fulfilled to share with the requestor. 
  6. If the request should indeed be closed, click the “Complete” button in the Fulfillment section or at the top of the page.

  7. Confirm that you want to complete the request without adding additional inventory

  8. The request will be completed and assigned a “Fulfilled” status

  9. You may always return to the request to view details on what was requested and what was fulfilled

What do to when a request is not going to be fulfilled

If you receive an inventory request that is not going to be fulfilled ever it should be cancelled.

  1. Navigate to the Movement → Requests page

  2. Locate the inventory request in question and click on it to open its detail page

  3. Review the request details before cancelling

  4. Click on the “More” button in the upper right corner

  5. Click “Cancel Request”

  6. Click “Yes” to confirm.

  7. The request will be cancelled and display a cancelled status.
