Barcodes are a super easy way to search for your inventory, but what if you want to search using Text? Well now Beacon offers OCR to help! (Object Character Recognition).
Maybe you're scanning a bill sheet, maybe you're scanning the catalog number on an actual device; either way, Beacon can help.
- First take a picture of the text you want to scan using your device
- Next, Navigate to the All Inventory tab in Beacon (Web OR Mobile)
- Click on the scanning button in the search field.
- Switch the "Scan Barcode" filter to "Scan Text"
- Then Click "Capture Text"
- Then you will be prompted to select your image file.
- Crop your image down to the text you would like to scan with OCR for best results
- Click "Crop and Proceed"
- The system will then process the image to identify your text
- Make any revisions to the displayed text
- Be aware that Beacon will search using all of this text.
- So, you may need to revise or reformat your search to find your results.
