Note: 'Container Canonical Name' has been changed to 'Container Group Name'.
The Group Name has also been added as a column to the All Inventory Screen.
Container Group Name is a way of helping you to manage your containers and their use over time by grouping them by archetype.
As you may recall, every container must have its own unique Catalog Number and also bears its own description. However, it is typical for companies to have many of one type of container, and you want a way to keep track of containers that are the same.
So, the container group name can best be thought of the description used to refer to containers that match each other.
Example: Each "spine set" your company manages needs 8 trays that are required to comprise a complete product, which must be present for a surgery to be performed.
Let's say tray # 1 of 8 is always an instrumentation set. So you might create a container group name called "Spine Set #1 of 8: Instrumentation", which is assigned to all trays that match this configuration to make requesting and fulfilling inventory much easier.
You can use these Container Group Names to build an archetype for a complete product in the Product Line page.
