Facility Tags provide a flexible, user-defined categorization system for healthcare facilities in your Directory. By assigning tags to facilities—such as Health System/IDN affiliations, GPO purchasing groups, trauma center levels, or account priority tiers—your organization can quickly search, filter, and report on specific facility groups across Beacon.
Key Benefits & Use Cases
Flexible Account Classification: Group hospitals and ASCs by parent health systems, buying networks, account tiers, or regional territories without requesting custom database fields.
Enhanced Searchability: Instantly narrow down facility lists in the Directory, during event/case scheduling, or in reporting views using tag keywords.
Unified Field Alignment: Ensure sales reps, distributors, and operations teams use standardized descriptors to manage customer relationships across your accounts.
How to Add and Edit Facility Tags
Navigate to Directory in the main navigation sidebar and select Facilities.
Locate the facility you wish to update and click its name to open the Facility Detail screen.
Scroll to the Tags section in the facility information panel.
Type your tag name (e.g.,
IDN-Mercy,GPO-Vizient,Trauma-Level-1, orTier-1) into the text box and press Enter.Tip: Beacon will suggest existing facility tags as you type to help prevent duplicate or misspelled tags.
Click Save at the bottom of the page to apply your tags.
Adding Facility Tags in Bulk via CSV Import
To tag multiple facilities simultaneously during onboarding or directory updates:
Open your facility import template or spreadsheet (
.CSV).Add a column titled Tags (or Facility Tags).
Enter tags for each facility row. Separate multiple tags on the same facility using the bar symbol (
|) (e.g.,GPO-Premier|Trauma-Level-2|Region-Midwest).Go to Directory > Facilities, click Import CSV, and map your spreadsheet's Tags column to the Facility Tags field during the field-mapping step.
How to Search and Filter Facilities by Tag
Navigate to Directory > Facilities.
Enter the tag name directly into the search bar or click Filters to open the advanced filter panel.
Select or type the desired tag descriptor and click Apply Filters.
The directory table will update immediately to display only facilities associated with that tag.
Best Practices for Managing Facility Tags
Standardize Naming Conventions: Establish clear guidelines within your team before creating tags (e.g., agree on
Tier-1rather than mixingTier1,T1, andTier-One) to keep directory search results clean.Routine Directory Maintenance: Periodically export your facility list via Reports > Facilities Export to review assigned tags and remove obsolete tags when hospital affiliations or purchasing contracts change.
