How to Use the Shippo Integration to Print Shipping Labels in Beacon

The Shippo integration in ConnectSx Beacon allows Operations and Admin users—as well as authorized field users—to generate, purchase, and print shipping labels directly within the transfer and stocking order workflows without leaving the platform.

Prerequisites & User Permissions

Before generating shipping labels in Beacon, ensure the following requirements are met:

  • Active Shippo Account: Your organization must have an active Shippo account.

  • Subscription Module: The Shippo integration must be enabled for your ConnectSx account by the ConnectSx team (requires an active integration module).

  • Admin / Operations Role: Only Admins or Operations users can perform the initial connection between Beacon and Shippo.

  • User Permission Setting: To allow Sales or Distributor users to generate labels, an Admin must enable the permission setting on their user profile.

Enabling User Permissions: Navigate to Users > Select User > Scroll to User Settings > Toggle Create Shipping Labels to ON (default is OFF).

Connecting Your Shippo Account to Beacon

Connecting your Shippo account is a one-time administrative setup:

  1. Log into the Beacon Console as an Admin or Operations user.

  2. Navigate to Settings in the main navigation menu and select the Integrations tab.

  3. Locate the Shippo integration card and click Connect / Integrate.

  4. In the pop-up modal, enter your organization's Shippo account credentials.

  5. Click Connect. Beacon will verify the credentials and link your account.

Generating Shipping Labels for Inventory Transfers

Once connected, shipping labels can be generated directly within an inventory transfer workflow:

  1. Create or Open a Transfer: Navigate to Movement > Transfers and create a new transfer or open an existing open/pending transfer.

  2. Locate Tracking Information: Scroll down to the Tracking Information section of the Transfer Detail page.

  3. Click Create Shipping Label: Select the Create Shipping Label button to launch the shipping wizard.

  4. Specify Addresses:

    • Ship To Address: Populates automatically from the recipient's primary address, facility address, or event location.

    • Ship From Address (Optional): Set a custom origin address if shipping from a trunk stock location or satellite warehouse rather than the main facility.

    • Return Address (Optional): Enter a return address if generating a return label for loaner trays or consignment stock.

  5. Enter Package & Item Details:

    • Input the package dimensions (Length × Width × Height).

    • Enter the shipping weights for the included items. (Tip: Items with pre-saved weights in the Product Catalog will automatically populate, using your organization's default weight unit: grams, kilograms, ounces, or pounds).

    • Click + Add Item to add additional packages or items to the shipment if necessary.

  6. Select Carrier & Rates: Click Next to load the embedded Shippo rate calculator widget. Compare live rates across available carriers and select your desired service level (e.g., Ground, Express, Overnight).

  7. Purchase & Print: Confirm the selection. Your Shippo account will be charged for the postage, the tracking number will automatically save to the transfer record in Beacon, and a printable PDF shipping label will download.

Generating Shipping Labels for Direct Sales & Stocking Orders

For customer-facing shipments resulting from direct sales or stocking orders, labels are managed within the Event record:

  1. Open the Event: Navigate to Events and select your active Stocking Order or Direct Sale event.

  2. Access the Ship Tab: Click on the Ship tab located on the Event Detail screen.

  3. Set Destination: Select or autofill the Ship To address using stored customer facility contacts.

  4. Create Shipping Section:

    • Locate the Tracking Info area and click Create Shipping Label.

    • If splitting an order across multiple boxes or dates, click Add New Shipping Section to create separate tracking records.

  5. Configure & Print: Enter dimensions and item weights, select the carrier service in the Shippo widget, and print the resulting shipping label.

Best Practices

  • Pre-Save Catalog Weights: To speed up label generation, ensure Operations users enter standard shipping weights in Inventory > Catalog for all high-volume catalog items.

  • Return Labels for Loaners: When transferring loaner containers or trays with a set Due Back Date, generate a return shipping label at the time of outbound shipment and include the printed PDF label inside the tray box for seamless customer returns.
