Understanding Restricting Transfers
This feature allows your organization to set a safety window that prevents inventory nearing its expiration date from being sent out into the field. By defining a specific number of days, you can ensure that only products with sufficient shelf life reach your representatives and facilities.
What it Means for You
Reduced Waste: Prevents items from expiring shortly after arriving in the field, reducing the need for costly returns or disposals.
Quality Assurance: Ensures that products used in patient care meet your organization's strict quality and safety standards regarding expiration.
Automated Protection: Once configured, the system automatically hides expiring items from the selection list during the transfer process, removing the need for manual date checking.
Using Restricting Transfers in Your Workflow
Organization Settings (Admin Only)
Administrators can enable this restriction at the organization level and define the exact "buffer" period required. This setting specifically targets transfers originating from the Organization's custody.
Transfers
When creating a transfer from the organization, the item picker will only display inventory that expires outside of your defined restriction window.
Unrestricted Items: Items with no expiration date recorded are always available for transfer.
Field Transfers: This restriction does not apply to transfers between field users (e.g., Rep to Rep), allowing for maximum flexibility in moving existing field inventory where it is needed most.
How to use Restricting Transfers
Navigate to Settings: Go to your Organization Settings.
Locate the Restriction: Find the section labeled Restrict Transfer of Expiring Inventory.
Enable the Feature: Switch the Restrict transfer of expiring inventory toggle to ON.
Define the Window: Enter the number of days in the input field (e.g., "90"). Any inventory expiring within this many days from "today" will be hidden from outbound organization transfers.
Save Changes: The system will now enforce this rule for all future transfers created from the organization.
